How is my information protected when using Apple Pay?
Apple Pay has enhanced security features that aim to make payments more secure than traditional ways to pay. With Apple Pay, instead of using your actual card number, when your card is added to the Wallet & Apple Pay app a Device Account Number – separate and unique to your device - is assigned, encrypted, and stored on a dedicated chip on your iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Apple Watch, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4 or iPad mini 3. This means that your actual card number is never shared with merchants or transmitted with the payment.
